Boozhy Blogs: New Kid on the Block

Kevin_sessumsMy dear friend Kevin Sessums (pictured) has begun a blog.  Kevin has an extremely touching memoir due out in March.  The memoir is perhaps the most touching of any I've ever read.  I could wax poetic on the memoir and will post a review of the memoir (Mississippi Sissy) in the near future.  But, this post is not introducing Kevin's memoir, it's an introduction to his blog.  Kevin's writing is insightful and funny, in fact Michael Cunningham states it best when he calls Kevin "some kind of cockeyed national treasure."  Read the blog.

Boozhy Favorites: Hot Daddy Jack Abramoff follows in the footsteps of Hot Daddy Scott

Abramoff4_1Yep, Washingtonian editor Kim Eisler rips off Scott of Bill in Exile's schtick, sans the porn (read: not work safe).  Eisler publishes e-mails exchanged with Abramoff while incarcerated.  Abramoff waxes on Clooney, Borat and Swift Boat, but expresses little remorse.  Click here to read the e-mails (work safe).

Boozhy Blogs: Gay, Gay, Gay

Those damn fundamentalists are at it again.  Boycotting Wal-Mart, Ford and a whole host of other institutions for supporting or even tolerating homosexuality.  Scottie has written one of the best posts I've read in ages.  Suggesting, rather than allowing the fundies to boycott us, let's just take back some of our contributions, including The King James Version of the Bible (King James was a notorious fag), the Computer (invented by Alan Turing, a gay) and outdoor barbecues.  Check out the list here.  And thanks, Scottie for a great post.

Boozhy Musings: "Why I Blog" or "Why Boozhy is the Future of Politics"

Micah Sifry of Personal Democracy Forum pens an extremely interesting piece re: the impact of blogging, how the left is winning the online war and how blogging benefits the ordinary person...

"...there is one way in which Web 2.0...does appear to work to the benefit of...the ordinary person...And that is because it shifts power away from the center of organizations out to the edges. Millions of us now can speak on a much more level playing field than anything that has ever existed before. By definition that is bad for elites and insiders. Which can't be good news for the incumbent party in Washington.

The piece is well researched and well written and is worth a read.  It seems that blogging and bloggers may allow for the realization of a true populist agenda in the United States.  Hooray!
